Catch Up - Photos, Videos & Updates!

Hi everyone! I'm glad to finally be back blogging, after a short break I took less than two weeks ago. If I'm ever feeling stressed or if I'm lacking in enthusiasm in regards to this blog, I usually take a step back from it for a little while. It helps me to build up ideas and creativity. I'd never push blog posts out, with no meaning or buzz behind them - it'd be dishonest for my readers. I'm heading to London Fashion Week in 2 weeks also, so life has been a tad hectic with planning that and such. I'm sooo excited to attend again! My first LFW experience was back in February, and it was honestly the most exciting week of my life.
I thought I'd get back into the swing of things here, by posting some photos from the last two weeks along with some of my newest videos. I'm glad to be back, and I hope you all enjoyed your Summer! I only noticed today that I've reached a whopping 3,000 followers on this - I'm gobsmacked! THANK YOU ALL SO, SO MUCH!

Outfit of the Day - New Topshop Boots!

|| Lookbook ||

Evening all! I bought some gorrrgeous new boots in Topshop the other day, determined not to break my annual boot-buying tradition. (I buy a pair of black boots ever year, that I no doubt overwear and love to death.) These beauties caught my eye instantly! They were €106, which is actually quite reasonable for the quality and I know I'll get ton of wear out of them. Breaking into them was painful however, and I currently have about 10 plasters on my poor feet!
My outfit was very Alexa Chung/ Saved By The Bell inspired, I decided to wear my trusty vintage shorts and one of my many vintage shirts. It's such a classic outfit; you can't beat a pair of denim shorts, a white shirt and a pair of boots - fact!

My Week In Pictures - No.6

Evening peeps! Would you believe that I didn't realise it was Sunday until a few minutes a go? I am living in Lala Land lately. Here's a double post of pictures to make up for my lateness! I had a fab week - thank god for the few days of nice weather. It makes such a difference!

Follow me on Instagram - click here!
  • Picked up this month's NME with my idol Joe Strummer on the cover. He would of turned 60 in two days. Also picked up the new Company and my fave sparkling water.
  • Devo that Thelma's Gypsy Girls is over, it was my ultimate guilty tv pleasure over the last few weeks. I adored watching it, and take such an interest in traveller culture and especially the how the girls dress. I had such a soft spot for Margaret, I thought she was hilarious! (You can watch the whole series now on 4oD!)
  • Loving this Indian Night Jasmine body spray from The Body Shop, it's so light and chic.
  • You can't beat soliders and boiled eggs made by your Nana, it's an Irish foodie fact.
  • We dog-sat for a few days, and I had such a blast with this little cutie Molly!
  • Katie Taylor street art on Bedford Lane.
  • 'Sociable' lipstick from Elf and my new amazing nail polish from Catrice, called 'Genius In A Bottle'.
  • Halfway through reading The Shining, liking it so far. It's definitely better than the movie, which I hated!
  • Myself and my Nana went for a gorgeous lunch in Browne's Cafe, in Sandymount. I ate the pancakes with strawberry jam and cream, with freshly squeezed OJ. They were delish, I demolished both in less than 5 mins! Nana had her cappuccino (one shot) and some yummy vanilla cheesecake. I highly recommend popping into Browne's if you're around the Sandymount Village area, it's gorgeous.

  • Picked up the new issues of ELLE and Vogue, in preparation for London Fashion Week next month - I need some inspo! Baroque is calling me, and I plan on snatching up a good few pieces inspired by D&G's A/W collection. I'm still in awe over it!
  • I went to Bite restaurant, on South Frederick St the other night for a friend's birthday and I was so impressed! I ate these delicious Pil Pil Prawns and a gorgeous broccoli side dish.
  • My new favourite snack; Starbucks tea and their yummy Fruit & Oat cookies!
  • Myself and Conor went for some cocktails in Café Novo at The Westbury Hotel yesterday. Conor had a something along the lines of a Mojito and I had a drink called 'Cinderella'. Both were non-alcoholic, and absolutely delicious! I'm not into drinking over the last few months, so I didn't feel the need to get an alcoholic one. They were both under a fiver, so it was a nice little treat.
  • Sunny Dublin yesterday, what a lovely change.
  • I spy myself and Conor in the latest U Magazine issue! The photo is from the launch of the Dublin Festival of Fashion.
  • One of my favourite restaurants in Dublin, Yamamori on the Quays! I always order the Salmon Maki, seaweed, Tonkatsu sauce and some boiled brown rice.
  • My new 2012 black boots from Topshop. I buy a pair every year, and I'm delighted with these new beauties. They were €109, and they're very comfortable so far. I'll include them in a haul post and video this week.
  • The Bakehouse on the Quays is a gorgeous little café, Conor and I spotted last week. The staff are so friendly, and we got talking to a dude called Dave for a solid hour outside. (You have to love us Dublin folk - we'd talk to a wall if we could!) My tea and toffee muffin were delish, and I'm dying to go back again!

Topshop A/W Collections & Personal Shopping Event

Factory Girl
Yesterday evening, I attended my first ever Topshop event! I was beyond excited - it's still to this day my number one high street store, and I'm always in awe of their pieces every season. The event was held on the top floor of the St. Stephen's Green branch, in their swanky personal shopping suite. The personal shopping service is completely free (amaze), and Una is the personal shopper in residence for this branch. The suite is bright and spacious with flattering lighting, comfy couches and fashion magazines to flick through. You can book the service for just yourself, or for a group of you and your friends for a Topshop shopping party!

*To book a personal shopping appointment at the Stephen's Green store call Una on 01-6334803 or email bookings@topshop.com.*

I was given a look at the new Autumn/ Winter collections, and I fell in love with everything (as I always do with Topshop). There are 4 main collections; Scandi Girl, The Sensationalist, Pennsylvania Military and Factory Girl. All completely different from each other, but bang on trend and unique with the classic Topshop edge added to the mix. My personal favourite collection was The Sensationalist, with everything from leather, to studs and spikes! All of the stock pictured below is available to be in store or online now.

I fell in love with this Topshop Premium suede fringed jacket. It's quite an investment buy at €265, but I think it'd look AMAZING to wear at London Fashion Week next month. I currently have it on hold, and I'm deliberating on whether or not to purchase it. What do you guys think? I adore it, but I'm a bit iffy on the print. I'd prefer if it was all black, as I think I'd get more wear out of it. The fringing is to die for - it's such a statement piece. Hmm..

I received some gorgeous Topshop makeup goodies in my giftbag! I haven't used any of the Topshop makeup line yet, so I'm sooo excited to try these bits out. I received a Lip Marker in 'Orange', a Nail Polish in 'Ruthless' and a Lipstick in 'Desert'. I'll definitely be reviewing these in the near future, so keep an eye out!

What I wore: Versace for H&M scarf (in hair), ROMWE skeleton hands t-shirt, American Apparel Disco Pants in the shade 'Deep Peacock', a Topshop leather jacket and my beloved Oasap studded bag.

M.A.C Strobe Cream - Review

Evening! Sorry I've been posting all over the place over the last week or so peeps, my internet connection is appalling (damn you Vodafone) and we're currently trying to fix that problem. It's driving me nuts! I haven't reviewed a M.A.C product in quite a while, so I thought I'd do one today as I know most of my readers are M.A.C-obsessed! Personally, I'm not M.A.C obsessed at all, unlike the majority of the beauty blogger world. I have a small enough collection of their products (in comparison to some people) and have never been absolutely amazed by any of their products before. I went on an impulsive M.A.C spending spree last month however, picking up a good few bits that have been on my wishlist for months.
One of the items I picked up, was their famous Strobe Cream. I picked up the full size 50ml tube for €31.50. I was really apprehensive about spending that amount of money on a highlighter, but the sales assistant convinced me it would be an investment and that it would last me at least a year, if not longer. I've been using it regularly since I purchased it, and I am happy with it. I find myself happy with the majority of M.A.C products I buy, but never over the moon with them so to speak! I never repurchase products from them (expect for this) and I find myself reaching for my high street alternatives instead, constantly.
Don't get me wrong, the cream is good. It's lovely to mix in with your foundation, to lighten the consistency and to add a healthy sheen to the face. It's nice to pat over your foundation, to give a natural hightlight to the facial features or all over to add a glow on top of your foundation. It instantly brightens up the face, so it is great to apply over your moisturiser even if you're not wearing any makeup. It's moisturising and does set into the skin quite quickly, which I like. However, for over €30 I just don't see myself ever repurchasing this item and as I said before, it's not something I've absolutely fallen head over heels in love with.
I find with a lot of M.A.C products, there's so much hype built up around them that when I buy something, my expectations are almost too high and I'm left feeling disappointed? I've one or two other M.A.C products to review from my haul, that I've also been disappointed with unfortunately. I just find myself always thinking that so and so was a waste of money, and that I could of saved a few euro by buying a high street alternative. My favourite highlighter at the moment is Lush's 'Feeling Younger' from their new Emotional Brilliance makeup line. It's half the price of Strobe Cream, and it does more or less the exact same thing.
I know a ton of people swear by this product and a lot of other M.A.C products that I've bought, due to the hype surrounding them. I just find myself feeling slightly indifferent about this product. I like it, but it isn't anything special to me and especially not for the price. All I can say is "meh".

Do you like Strobe Cream? Has a M.A.C product ever disappointed you?

Outfit of the Day - Nautical Summer Dress

|| Lookbook ||
There's nothing more exciting than putting on a new dress on a Summer's day - fact! You instantly feel glamorous, feminine and ready to do fashion walk down the runway (or your hallway, whichever). This gorgeous Motel Rocks striped dress hits all the right spots and has my beloved retro vibe to it with a hint of modernity. It's a flattering shape, although I wouldn't advise people who have a wide waist to get it as horizontal stripes can widen the area even more. However, the vertical stripes on both the upper and lower sections of the dress are super flattering and slim you down instantly. The gold button detailing at waist adds the kitsch 50s sailor vibe to the gúna, without making it look tacky. The dress is gorgeous to dress up, like I have done so with the heels but it'd be just as cute teamed with a pair of pumps or Converse. I love versatile Summer dresses, than you can instantly take from day to night!
I paired the dress up with a simple pair of Pearl (faux) earrings from Dunnes Stores and my staple nude YSL Tribute-alike heels from New Look. They're such a must-have shoe for everyone to own, as they go with everything and are extremely flattering and leg-lengthening.

My Week In Pictures - No.5

Follow me on Instagram - click here!

It's official - last week was by FAR the fastest week of 2012 so far. Where are the days going!? I had a great week however, and took advantage of the random few days of Summery weather we had. I went to the beach, spent time with my family and ate some delicious (junk) food. I hope you all had a fab week, and let's hope the nice weather lasts!
  • Sandymount Beach - a beach down the road from my Nana's, where I've gone to enjoy the sun since I was a baby. Myself, my Nana and my little sisters had a blast building sand castles and paddling in the warm sea. Nice weather makes such a difference!
  • I love the sea. It amazes me. It's so vast and beautiful.
  • I can't express the excitement and pride I felt on Thursday watching Katie Taylor's women's boxing win at the Olympics. Ireland's only gold medal, and she deserved it more than anyone! I was squirming in my seat watching the match, and cried tears of joys hearing our anthem being played. Ireland is beyond proud of Katie, and all of our athletes. It makes me feel good to be a woman!
  • Loving neon nail polishes. This gorgeous pink shade is by w7 in the shade No.48 Pink.
  • My sister's delicious bubblegum ice cream and sprinkle cone, from Rainbows in Dundrum shopping centre. It tasted DELISH!
  • I have a slight tea addiction! Can't stop drinking Barry's Green Tea with Lemon - it's unreaaaal.
  • Picked up the new issue of Glamour, with the gorgeous Dannii Minogue on the cover. It's a great read so far, it always is to be honest. I also cheekily picked up a new Essence lipbalm and Catrice nail polish. I'll feature them in a haul in the future!
  • Loving this Macadamia Deep Treatment Masque, will post a big review on it soon.
  • My bed time essentials; Chamomile tea, my Anatomicals sleep mask and Stephen King's The Shining.

Outfit of the Day - Leopard Print & Vintage Denim

|| Lookbook ||

Morning everyone! I compiled an array of outfits last week, in a mini Lookbook shoot. Everything from casual to formal, so hopefully it gives you all a tad bit of inspiration and whatnot over the next few days. The outfit above was my far my favourite, no doubt! It's very me; it's comfortable and it's edgy. All of the ingredients you need for a Leanne Woodfull look! It's very 90s skater inspired, and can be worn by everyone and anyone by altering a few bits here and there to suit your own taste.
Leopard print is a key print I constantly wear, I've been obsessed with it since I was a young'un. Leopard print is an essential print to have in your wardrobe - whether it be on a dress or a scarf. It can instantly jazz up an outfit, and can be worn either casually or formally. Wear one piece of leopard-print, so you don't over-do it or make the look tacky (Pat Butcher), introduce small pieces into your collection one by one if you're a bit wary of wearing it at first.
There's nothing I love more than a pair of vintage Levi shorts, comfy shoes and a biker-chic top. Typically I'd opt for a band tee with this look, but I thought this leopard-print top was actually perfect. It's advertised as a dress on the Oasap site, however it's far too short at the hem to be a dress and it just barely covers my bum! I'm 5"2, so trust me - if it doesn't cover my bum, it won't cover yours! It'd be ideal to wear with thick leggings, certainly, but do NOT wear this as a dress unless you want everyone to see your bits'n'bobs (never sexy).
Accessories-wise, I kept things simple by wearing one choker that I nabbed for a euro in the Topshop sales last year. It adds my signature edge to the overall casual look and suits the neckline of the top perfectly.

M.A.C x Marilyn Monroe Collection - Official Pictures!

M.A.C announced their Marilyn Monroe collection plans monthssss ago, and all of us Old Hollywood fans nearly collapsed with excitement! The release of these Marilyn Monroe inspired products is set for this October, which I personally think should of been this month to coincide with her anniversary - just saying! The products look gorgeous however, they're all colours I had expected and wanted for a classic 50s collection. There will be 30 products; everything from nail polishes, to lipsticks to eyeshadows.
Unfortunately, I hate the packaging. I've hated the packaging on the last few M.A.C collections, and thought the Marilyn one would be something a bit more exciting! For a start, the picture they used of her is from The Black Sitting by Milton Greene in 1956. Definitely not a range of photos for a makeup collection, I was expecting something from her earlier shoots (a photo from this shoot would of been ideal - it actually shows her classic makeup and beauty in more detail). It all looks a tad drab, and almost cheap looking - which is a pity. Nonetheless, I'll be saving money from here on in to buy a chunk of this collection. I love the shades, they're very me and I need anything Marilyn Monroe, as we all know!

What do you think of the Marilyn Monroe collection for M.A.C?

Shu Uemura HP Balancing Cleansing Oil - Review

Rarely do I come across a skincare product that I think "Wow, I'll be picking up this again!", but after using Shu Uemura's famous cleansing oil I was hooked! This High Performance Balancing Cleansing Oil was originally launched in 1960 and was used by no other than Marilyn Monroe herself. It has grown to be a cult favourite over the years, and is still a staple for many makeup artists and beauty nerds alike. I was wary at first using this oil, having an oily-combination skin type and blemish-prone skin. However, it has worked absolute wonders for me!
I've had the oil for about 2 months now, and I use it every time I'm removing my makeup. Before I cleanse, tone etc I remove all of my makeup with the oil. I squirt 2/3 pumps of it out - depending on how heavy my makeup is. I then massage it on to my dry face, and really concentrate on massaging it into the areas where makeup may have clogged up my pores (t-zone and jawline). I then emulsify the oil, by splashing and massaging in some water to create a milky texture on my face. I then rinse it all off with a few splashes of cool water. It removes the majority of my makeup, bar some waterproof eye makeup I find. I usually remove my mascara prior to removing the makeup on my face, by using The Body Shop's Moringa Beautifying Oil. The oil doesn't have a smell (to me), and it doesn't leave the skin feeling tight or dry.
My 450ml bottle is lasting absolutely ages, and has only gone down a tiny bit since my first use. I only use it when I wear makeup, not when I'm not wearing any - I usually just skip it and move on to my usual cream cleanser. It's quite pricey, but I honestly believe that spending more on skincare is usually worth it. It'll probably last me a year, if not longer by the looks of it and it's doing the job so well! The oils are around €60-70. (You can buy a 150ml bottle for around €30-40, but I honestly think buying the larger bottle is an investment.)
I highly, highly, highly recommend this product to you all! Especially if you wear quite a lot of makeup, like myself. It'd be ideal for anyone living in a hot country also, where you find makeup and sunscreen has clogged your pores. If it's good enough for Marilyn Monroe, it's good enough for me! There are a ton of different cleansing oils in the range, for different skin types and conditions. The High Performance Balancing Oil is the original oil, and I find it works perfectly for me.

You can buy Shu Uemura products in Brown Thomas or online.

My Week In Pictures - No.4

Follow me on Instagram - click here!

Evening all, I hope you all had a fab week regardless of the horrendous weather! I can't believe this is my fourth My Week In Pictures post! Madness, 2012 is flying by.
I added a little Marilyn Monroe post at the end, in memory of one of my biggest idols who's sadly 50 years gone today. Devastating!

  • Devastated that one of the back pockets off my American Apparel Disco Pants randomly fell off the other day. I can't even stitch it back on, as the pockets are glued on and I'd be afraid to mess them up even more! Not happy about it, especially not from €80 trousers. I emailed American Apparel about them, so hopefully I hear a reply.
  • My pretty Nana.
  • I tidied my room the other day, and tackled my ever-expanding wardrobe.
  • Today's nails; a gorgeous retro red Smokin Hot from Elf. They've recently improved their nail polish formula, and it's absolutely gorgeous on and very opaque.
  • My victory roll hairstyle today - I loveeee it!
  • Myself and my cousin Eleanor.
  • My all-time favourite perfume; Chanel No.5.
  • A teeny-weeny segment of my Marilyn collection, the books were my Aunty's and they're over 20 years old!
  • Yummy Chinese grub with Conor and Sarah yesterday.

R.I.P Marilyn Monroe, 50 years gone.

I find it hard to express my love and adoration for Marilyn Monroe. Ever since I was a child, I've been infatuated with ther. My Mum and Aunty were obsessed also love her, so I was surrounded by photos, films and books of Marilyn all through my childhood. I used to flick through the books on her for hours upon hours each night, amazed by her beauty and style. As I grew up, I started getting into her movies and "life story" more, I idolised her. All through the years, my love for Marilyn has grown and grown, and still to this day I idolise her.
She was an extremely misunderstood woman, who had so much love and creativity to give and express. She had such a difficult childhood - to come from virtually nothing, to becoming the world's biggest superstar is absolutely mind-blowing. She definitely was one of the special ones, she was born with a giant heart and ethereal beauty.
I've watched every single movie of hers, seen every single documentary, read every book - you name it! I find her such an interesting human being to read into. I wouldn't be who I am today if it wasn't for Marilyn Monroe. Due to my early interest in her, I developed a huge love for Old Hollywood in general and the 1940s and 50s especially. It has influenced my style, my interests and myself in general. I feel far more connected to that era, than I do in the present one.
I genuinely cannot believe it has been 50 years since this star has passed, but her light still shines on - beaming. Not many people know Marilyn's story, and judge her far too quickly and harshly. She had so much more to give to the world, and unfortunately her life was cut way too short. I'm not going to discuss her death - there's hundreds and theories and conspiracies about it, as everyone knows. Did the Kennedy's kill her? Did she commit suicide? Was it an accidental overdose? We'll never know. Only the flies on the wall know exactly what went on that night, and regardless of what and how it happened, an extremely precious human being was lost.
I find it hard to write about her without getting emotional, so excuse this random little snippet. She has inspired me beyond belief, and I'll adore her until the day I die. May her legacy live on, R.I.P Norma Jeane.

YSL Rouge Volupté No. 15 Lipstick - Review

Morning all, and Happy Friday - yay! It pains me to bring you all this review, as it won't be a good one at all at all. I decided to treat myself to a YSL lipstick a few weeks ago, after lusting over them for aaages. It was my first YSL beauty buy, and I spent ages picking and choosing between colours at the counter. I eventually chose this gorgeous red-orange coral shade, No 15, from the Rouge Volupté range. I particularly adored the packaging on the lipstick, as it's so classy and luxurious looking. The colour of the lipstick itself is behind the logo also, so I thought it'd be easy to spot amongst my other lipsticks.
I nearly collapsed when the woman at the till told me it was €30* (the exact price has escaped me, but it's somewhere between the €30-35 mark). However, I said I'd treat myself to a little piece of luxury. I expected this lipstick to be my new favourite, something I'd apply daily and repurchase again and again. Unfortunately, I was wrong! This lipstick has been one of the most disappointing beauty buys for me of the year. Yes, the colour is stunning. The packaging is gorgeous. It has SPF 15, wonderful! It smells DELICIOUS. The lipstick itself? Crap.
When you first apply the lipstick it appears opaque, it's quite conditioning and it's easy to strengthen to a bold bright or to smudge down to a stain. This is all fabulous, until you apply this lipstick for the tenth time in one day. The lasting power of this product is horrendous, it fades off within minutes. Paying over €30 for product that can't even last long on my lips infuriates me. What's even worse is, the colour on the centre of the lips completely goes first, leaving a horrible clown-ish lip line of colour surrounding the lips. I don't even have to reapply my €1.50 ELF lipsticks that often! With the amount of times I have to reapply this, it'll be gone within months.
I plan on wearing this again, obviously. I highly doubt I'll repurchase it however. I was SO excited to pick up my first YSL lippy and to be so disappointed by my first one is such a let-down. I'm afraid to splurge on another shade in case this happens again! I rarely have problems with lipsticks, and the fact that this one was so expensive has just deflated me. Thumbs down!

Have you ever tried YSL lipsticks, what did you think of them?

July Favourites

Evening all, here's my monthly favourites as per usual. I've been using these products constantly throughout the month of July, and as you can see I've been loving Clarins especially! I love discovering new brands to look into, it's exciting finding new products to have a play around with. I hope you all had a fab month, and let's hope there's more sun coming our way for August!
  • Dolce & Gabbana sunglasses - My staple sunnies for the Summer, I adore the design and the gorgeous purple-pink colour of them. They're oversized without going OTT and they're perfect for blocking out the sun's rays - whenever we get any!
  • Clarins Colour Accents Face & Blush Powder - I absolutely LOVE Clarins makeup lately, I'm obsessed with their products and their stunning packaging. This gorgeous powder comes in the chicest gold compact, with a gorgeous design on the powder itself. The blend of powders together are perfect for the Summer, and don't look too orangey on my pale skin.
  • The Body Shop Vineyard Peach Body Butter - This body butter is getting heaps scooped out of it daily! It's smells delish and works wonders at hydrating my skin. I'm excited to try out other body butters now, as I can honestly say I've been converted.
  • Pease nail polish (No. 126 & 141) - These beautiful two shades have been on my nails for most of July, I adore them. The colours are both so opaque even after one coat, they're hard to chip and the quality of the polish itself is fantastic.
  • Essence 'Like A Girls' Night Out' perfume - I can't stop spraying this EVERYWHERE - on myself, all over my room, on my clothes. It's delish! I love all of Essence's new perfumes, but I have to say this fruity scent is by far my favourite. What a bargain at €7.99, hey?
  • Lush 'Feeling Younger' highlighter - This highlighting cream has officially taken over from Benefit's High Beam (madness, I know). You get so much product in this glass jar, and you only need the tiniest bit! It's perfect for applying on to cheekbones, eyebrow arches, cupids bows or everywhere, if you're a highlighting junkie like me. You could also mix this in with your foundation for any extra dewy glow to the face.
  • Lush 'Passionate' lipstick - I've been over-wearing this lipstick to death! The pink shade compliments my skintone perfectly, and the texture of the product is so gorgeous on. You almost forget you're even wearing lippy! It lasts for quite a while on the lips, and once it fades off it becomes a stain which still looks just as nice. You can blend it out into a stain initially, if you don't want such a bright pop of colour.
  • Clarins Kohl Eye Pencil (01 Extreme Black) - I've been on the hunt for a creamy and opaque black eyeliner pencil for months now, and I'm delighted to have discovered this gem. It glides beautifully on to the waterline, and is 100% jet-black once applied. It's easy to smudge too, if you're going for a smokey look on the top and bottom lash lines.
  • Clarins Instant Definition Mascara (04 Intense Plum) - Never did I think I would fall in love with a purple mascara, but alas - I have! This Clarins mascara is absolutely GORGEOUS, the brush is amazing. It's one those brushes that grips on to every single lash and gives instant volume and definition. The purple isn't as noticeable as I thought initially, it's so dark that it can pass as black. The purple really suits my hazel eyes, and it's a colour I'll look into buying in the future. I'm currently saving up to buy this mascara in black as I love it so much!

What are your favourite products from the month of July?
